Pondering upon The Promise and Sacrifice this morning, I couldn’t help but notice that both cards present us with a disk. In Sacrifice, the figure grasps a clay disk that is buried in sand and submerged beneath the water. In Promise, the disk has been exhumed from the sand and lifted high outside of the Water. Lit by the light that now emanates from the disk, two Victors rejoice in Paradise. Physical creation, once dark, dense, and disconnected, is now bright, fiery, and light.
Yes, there has been sacrifice. Yes, there has been woe. But the prize that is promised is certainly worth the price.
